lemon water

There are so many topics that I want to cover in this blog, and I found it hard to begin.  Where would I start?

I decided to simply begin with a topic related to how I start each day.   I gave up coffee a few years ago, and although I do drink a lot of herbal tea,  I begin every day with warm lemon water.  I actually make an elixir with warm water, honey and apple cider vinegar, and I always feel my best when this is how I begin my day.  I will save my discussion of apple cider vinegar for another post, and instead focus in this post about 3 of the awesome benefits of lemon water.

1. Lemons are nutrient dense!  They are full of vitamin C, which boosts our immune system.   Add lemon to all of your drinks when you are sick to promote recovery, and it will keep you healthy during other times.  Lemons also have high quantities of potassium, which is good for the brain and the nerves.   Other vitamins and minerals in lemons include vitamins B, A and E, as well as zinc, calcium and magnesium.

2. Consuming lemons is an easy way to improve and promote digestion, which is a great benefit especially first thing in the morning.

3.  Lemons flush out toxins, and is cleansing from the body.

Bonus benefit: the scent of lemons is energizing and has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety.

I always feel my best when I have my lemon water first thing in the morning.  My morning drink leaves me feeling energized, cleansed and ready to start the day.

    I look forward to trying out the lemon water on the am. Sounds refreshing. At the moment my morning “drink” consists of spinach, a banana, some kind of berry&skim milk in the nutribullet.

      it’s a great way to start the day. I add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and a little honey. Also, I add lemon to my water, iced tea etc. throughout the day. Its a great way to make sure you are getting the nutrients.

    I begin the day with lemon water as well, for all the reasons you mention here. This is a GREAT place to start your blog, at the beginning (of the day)! Great start and I am looking forward to more!
